The Labor Pains of Nutrition
Labour pains means giving birth, and this is the problem with nutrition, or the science of nutrition should I say to be precise. You see, in my view the science of nutrition is barely 50 years old (and you know what that means in dog years!) It’s still in its infancy and in it’s ”Mommy Daddy Look at me! Look at me!” period. Happy as an Angel and throwing tantrums like a Devil, and we are stuck in between a Meaty Atkins and a Veggie Collin Campbell China Study. Thank God for Low-Carb Jimmy Moore!!!

Dimanche 4 octobre 2009
J’ai décidé la nuit dernière de terminer mon jeûne, car c’était ma 2ième nuit d’insomnie. De plus hier j’ai eu une montée de bile, comme quoi mon foie était surchargé dans son travail. Bref j’étais en moins bonne santé physique que je le pensais. Je suis très très content d’avoir entrepris ce premier jeûne, car cela m’a permis de mieux connaître les mécanismes intimes de mon corps.

What a day! I feel poisoned, I have a headache and my energy level is very low. I feel as if I drank a bad bottle of wine, and I badly slept last night. But that’s ok because it’s a good sign of détox. I lost a lot of weight, more in fact than I expected (tomorrow I will announce my new weight).

Quelle journée ! Je suis intoxiqué, j’ai mal à la tête et mon niveau d’énergie est très bas. Je me sens comme si j’avais pris une mauvaise bouteille de vin, et j’ai mal dormi hier. Mais c’est très correct car ce sont des bon signes de détox. J’ai beaucoup maigris, plus à ce que je m’attendais (demain j’annoncerai le nouveau poids).

5th day of Water Fasting. Wednesday, September 30th, 2009
Today I had a Oh no! Experience. I was sitting on the floor and got up really fast, and instantly I said to myself : ‘What have I done !!!’ I knew I shoudn’t have done that so I put my hand on the wall, expecting something to happen, and it did ! I felt dizzy and blacked out for a few seconds, lost awareness as I was slowly kneeling to the floor. It didn’t last long, but whoa was it ever something !

Aujourd’hui j’ai eu une expérience Oh non! J’étais assis sur le plancher et je me suis levé trop vite et immédiatement je me suis dit : ‘ Qu’est-ce que je viens de faire!!! ‘ Je savais que je ne devais pas le faire alors j’ai mis ma main sur le mur, m’attendant à ce qu’il arrive quelque chose et en effet ! Je ne peux y croire!!!
J’ai de la misère à croire en la transformation! Regarder les photos!, wow! En tant qu’artiste j’ai l’habitude de me prendre en photos pour ma documentation, mais les bras m’en tombe! Aujourd’hui je suis content d’avoir pris ces photos en 2003, parce que sinon je n’y croirais pas. C’est un bel ensemble de photos avant/apres! Cela démontre bien que c’est possible!!!

I can’t believe it!
I can’t believe the transformation. Just look at the pictures! I am a performance artist so I am use to taking pictures and documenting my self, but this is just jaw dropping! Today I am happy I took these pictures in 2003, because unless I see them I just don’t believe them. They are a great set os before and after pictures! It is possible!!!!!!

As with coffee, food gave rhythm to my day, and the fast raises the question of the right to pleasure. Why deprive myself of the pleasure of eating ? Not even for a few days ? I answer. Is it so difficult ? Is it not a sign of being addicted to pleasure, when we cannot even choose, as a smoker defends his habitual cigarette? To eat to live is to eat by choosing the best foods and the best meals for optimal energy. To eat to live is to eat to achieve our personal goals, those which makes us happy and which gives meaning to our life. Food can give me pleasure, it’s true, but it will not make me happy!
